Conthargos was a tall, powerfully built stallion with exceptional scope and natural ability. A true athlete, he combined superior technique, effortless jumping, and an innate willingness—all qualities he consistently passed on to his offspring. In 2008, he dominated the prestigious Dobrock tournament, securing victory with an impressive score of 9.5, and easily qualified for the Bundeschampionat.

Tragically, Conthargos passed away in January 2023. Limited frozen semen is available, with inseminations permitted only at approved clinics.

Sire: Converter I

Converter I was a highly accomplished competitor, winning over 20 show jumping classes up to intermediate level, achieving marks as high as 9.0. In 2005, he claimed the title of Oldenburg Regional Champion, earned top placings at the National Championships, and was ranked as the second-best show jumping stallion at the World Championships in Lanaken. He produced several elite Grand Prix horses, including Newton Abbot, who won the La Baule Grand Prix and represented Sweden in multiple Nations Cup teams. His legacy extends beyond show jumping, as he also sired numerous successful eventing horses competing at CCI2* level.

Damline

Conthargos’ damsire, Carthago Z, was one of the most influential sons of the legendary foundation sire Capitol I. A world-class competitor, Carthago Z represented Belgium under Jos Lansink in two Olympic Games, finishing 11th individually in Atlanta (1996). He was a key member of victorious Nations Cup teams in Rotterdam, Aachen, and La Baule and secured numerous Grand Prix wins worldwide. His impact as a sire is immense, with over 100 licensed sons and more than 150 offspring competing at the Grand Prix level. His progeny include Old Chap Tame, Mylord Carthago, Davos, Cappuccino, Cash 63, and Coltaire Z. Additionally, he sired the CCI4* eventer Cadoc Z.

Conthargos’ dam, Cajandra Z, was an exceptional broodmare, producing ten offspring who successfully competed at 1.30m and above. Among them is Afrika, Conthargos’ full brother, who has competed internationally at 1.55m. Other top competitors from this maternal line include Part Of Me, Balandro, and L’Escale, all of whom have achieved success at the Grand Prix level.

Progeny

Conthargos has established himself as a premier sire of international show jumpers, with an exceptional proportion of his offspring excelling at the highest levels of the sport. His oldest progeny are now competing successfully in 1.60m classes, consistently demonstrating his stamp—tall, strong, highly athletic horses with outstanding rideability and trainability. His legacy continues through the next generation of elite showjumping talent.
