Comme il Faut
Comme il Faut is the result of an extraordinary lineage, combining the blood of two legendary sport horses. His sire, Cornet Obolensky, a European Team Champion and influential stallion, has left an indelible mark on modern showjumping. His dam, Ratina Z, is a true icon in equestrian sport, having carried two riders to Olympic success—Piet Raymakers (NED) to individual silver and team gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and Ludger Beerbaum to team gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Beyond her Olympic achievements, Ratina Z boasts an unparalleled career, including:
World Champion (team gold, 1994, The Hague/NED)
World Cup Final Winner (1993, Gothenburg/SWE)
European Champion (individual and team gold, 1997, Mannheim/GER)
CHIO Aachen Winner (1996)
Ratina Z’s influence extends beyond her own performances; she produced several licensed stallions, including:
Crown Z (by Carthago) – Competed under Judy-Ann Melchior (BEL) and Christian Ahlmann
Rex Z (by Rebel Z I) – Ridden by Jos Lansink (BEL)
Treasure Z (by Dollar de la Pierre) – Ridden by Mohamed Sadek (EGY)
Her daughter, Calipa Z (by Cor de la Bryère), further strengthened the dynasty, producing the licensed stallions Hans Anders Z (by Acord II), Rabiat Z (by Rebel II Z), Sterrehof's Cayetano Z (by Caretano), and Chicago Z (by Caretano), the latter of whom competed at the 2016 Olympic Games with Bruno Passaro (ARG).
A Dynasty of Champions
Ratina Z was a full sister to the licensed stallions Rebel I Z, Rebel II Z, and Rebel III Z, as well as a half-sister to Rock Z (by Rebel I Z). Her full sister, Renommee Z, competed at the 1.60m level with Ricardo Kierkegaard (ARG) and produced the stallions Amiro Z (by Amigo Toss xx) and Passe Partout Z (by Prince de Revel).
The broader dam line is equally distinguished. From Ratina Z’s granddam Argentina Z, several influential stallions emerged, including:
Chamir Z (by Chellano Z)
Amateur Z (by Atlantus Z)
Freedom Z (by Furioso II)
Passe Partout Z (by Prince de Revel)
The third dam, Heureka Z, was a competitive 1.60m showjumper herself and produced the legendary stallions Goliath Z (by Graf Gotthard Z) and Ahorn Z (by Almé).
Through Ramiro Z, Almé Z, and Ganeff, Comme il Faut’s pedigree traces back to Holstein line 8145, which has also produced stallions such as Amiro Z, Carpe Diem Z, Cheurano Z, Corner Z, Courtello Z, Faust Z, and Freedom Z.
A Legacy Set in Stone
Comme il Faut’s pedigree is a masterclass in breeding excellence, blending power, scope, and intelligence. With his Olympic heritage and deep Holsteiner roots, he continues to pass on the genetics of champions, solidifying his place as one of the most remarkable stallions in modern showjumping history.
